Although A4e did not do as well as Ingeus-Deloitte and Working Links, they did win 5 workfare Work Programme contracts: East Midlands (inc Derbyshire), East London, North West (Cumbria, Lancashire and Liverpool), South East (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight) and South Yorkshire. A4e unveils new advertising campaign highlighting the benefits of offering employment to jobseekers on The Work Programme. A4e have instructed their staff not to use the term 'ball and chain', but instead to refer to the ball and chain as a Asset Protection System (APS). No doubt other workfare Work Programme providers will follow suit in adopting this terminology

Avanta Work Programme uniform confirmed

Avanta (incorporating TNG and InBiz) like G4S, have also won 3 workfare Work Programme contracts: North East, North West (Cheshire and Manchester) and the South East (Kent, Surrey and Sussex). They have yet to confirm if jobseekers on the Avanta Workfare Work Programme will also wear the traditional striped prison chain gang uniform. This is in stark contrast to Working Links who I believe will opt for the more modern orange jump suit for their workfare Work Programme jobseekers, which is normally worn by prisoners and not chain gang inmates

Best Work Programme Protest

Best have won only one workfare Work Programme contract, for West Yorkshire. Former textile mills in Yorkshire are expected to reopen in anticipation of a flood of orders from providers to manufacture the striped prison chain gang uniform for jobseekers on the workfare Work Programme. Best, like A4e, Avanta and several other workfare job programme providers have remained silent about whether their respective wokfare Work Programme jobseekers will even wear a uniform, never mind one consisting of black and white horizontal stripes

Ingeus have now formed a partnership with one of the world's biggest accountancy firms, Deloittle to run The Work Programme. They are the big winners having won 7 workfare Work Programme contracts (Cumbria-Lancashire-Merseyside and Halton), East of England, East Midlands, North East, West London, West Yorkshire and Scotland. That must have disappointed A4e who was expected to be the big winner in the allocation of workfare Work Programme contracts especially with A4e owner Emma Hariison being the darling of the ConDem government and A4e's repuatation for bidding for everything. A4e and many other providers employ full-time Bid Writers

JHP Emplyability Minimum Work Activity Programme ball and chain protest

Although JHP Employability have only one Work Programme contract they have also won 3 contracts to operate the Minimum Work Activity (MWA) in the South East, North West and Scotland. Under MWA jobseekers will have to undertake a 4-week unpaid work placement of up to 30-hours a week. JHP have yet to confirm if jobseekers on MWA will wear the same uniform as jobseekers on the workfare Work Programme. But we all know the British textile industry could do with a boost, and I'm sure a large order for striped prison chain gang unifroms would be very welcome

Pertemps Work Programme protest

Pertemps People Development Group have made a successful bid to operate the workfare Work Programme for Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country region. It is understood that jobseekers on the Pertemps PDG workfare Work Programme could also wear a uniform, it might be the striped prison chain gang uniform or even the orange jumpsuit. Certainly it is to be expected that jobseekers on the Pertemps workfare Work programme will wear some sort of protective uniform especially in the Black Country where things can get very dirty

Recruitment and outsourced human resource services provider, Staffline Group plc, is pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition of FourstaR Employment & Skills Ltd, leading preferred provider for the ball and chain workfare Work Programme for the Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country area. It is believed that Stafflline are in talks with FourstaR's about the choice of the Work Programme uniform. So I cannot confirm if jobseekers on the Fourstar -Staffline workfare Work Programme will wear the striped prison chain gang uniform or the orange prisoner jump suit or something completely different

Working Links Work Programme jump suits

Working Links, like Ingeus-Deloitte, have also won 7 workfare Work Programme contracts: East Midlands, London, North East, South West, Yorkshire, Wales and Scotland. Working Links does not have a office in Edinburgh, so it is possible that they will sub-contract A4e to operate the Edinburgh workfare Work Programme contract on their behalf. Working Link have not confirmed that the orange jump suit will be worn by both male female jobseekers on the Working Links workfare Work Programme. But orange is the colour of their logo, so the orange prisoner jump would blend in nicely. That being the case, Working Links are expected to place a large order with a US company who already supplies US prisons with orange jump suits
